Longbranch turned a horse trailer into a bourbon bar for its Texas story
Wild Turkey's Kentucky-meets-Texas bourbon took its ranch identity to festivals in a converted horse trailer, painted label yellow and fitted with a pine-lined bar behind lift-up hatches.

The trailer is painted the yellow of a Longbranch label over glossy black, rides on tandem axles and carries an air conditioner on its roof. Lift the side hatch and a wooden ledge becomes a counter. Swing open the pine-clad rear door and there is a small bar inside: knotty-pine walls, wooden shelves on black pipe brackets, an under-counter glass-door refrigerator. Along the roofline runs the fine print, "Never compromise. Drink responsibly," and a credit to Campari America.
The vehicle is a horse trailer for a reason. Longbranch is an eight-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon refined with American oak and Texas mesquite charcoals, created by Matthew McConaughey, then Wild Turkey's creative director, and master distiller Eddie Russell, and launched in 2018. Its whole pitch is Kentucky meeting Texas, which the trailer spells out in "TX KY" roundels and in the line "Oak & Texas Mesquite Charcoal Refined" lettered under the service windows. A ranch trailer says the same thing before anyone reads a word.
What it did was take a fixed place on the road. The brand's Longbranch Ranch is a bookable bourbon-themed stay at Walden Retreats in the Texas Hill Country near Austin. A campaign summary published by a creative director who worked on the account says the ranch was "activated across the US," through a festival pop-up built around "a reimagined horse trailer bar," and its images show this trailer. The pop-up added a game of horseshoes played with human shoes, and promotions in bars and stores offered a trip to the ranch. A stay near Austin reaches a few guests at a time. A trailer parked at a festival puts the ranch in front of the crowd already there.
The Hudson Trailer Company, which built it, says it was designed around large service openings and an efficient service area, and that it has traveled with the brand serving bourbon cocktails. We found no published list of its stops. McConaughey's partnership with Wild Turkey ended at the close of 2022, and the bourbon carried on without him; we found nothing linking him to the trailer.
